Day 4

I will warn you before you begin reading that day 4 was NOT my favorite day of this vacation! The thing I wanted to do the most on this trip was soak up an outrageous amount of vitamin D... which is hard to do when there are thick clouds in the sky and a cold wind that forces you to cover up if you don't want to be shivering!
Here is me, laying out,
exposing only 50% of my body to the chill at a time. I also did a lot of sleeping to catch up from the lack of sleep I got the night before (if you don't know why, see my previous post). By the way, those people behind me must be from Alaska or something to think it was warm enough to be in bathing suits! That, or they were also from a place like Washington where they were willing to sacrifice being cold for the possibility of getting a tan on their vacation.
That night was formal night, but before dinner was the Captain's Cocktail Party (which meant "free drinks") so of course we had to go stock up on the free stuff! I was surprised at how many people were NOT taking advantage of it!
So here is us, enjoying the cocktail party... Rob, Loralei and Rich all dressed up at the Cocktail Party Tami and Rob Here's Rob and I trying to dance until we noticed how much better everyone around us was! Then off to dinner we went.
I thought this was a great picture of my mom! This is where things went seriously down hill. Notice I'm happy here in this picture... Unfortunately I don't even remember what I ate for an appetizer since that is the only thing I actually got to eat! Of course, lobster/prime rib night, of all nights, was the one I got sea sick! You could feel the boat moving SO much in the dining room that I couldn't even walk in a straight line to get out of the dining room (I should also mention I only had one drink at the cocktail party) Between ordering our food, and waiting for the appetizer, Rich and I went down to guest services to get some sea sickness pills, the walking helped a lot, along with getting out of that dining room, so I thought I might make it through dinner having had the walk and the pills, but no, I got to eat my appetizer but then continued to feel worse and worse. While we were waiting for the main course, Tami went on another walk with me, thinking that might hold me over long enough to eat the rest of my food, but as soon as I sat back down at the table... with yummy prime rib in front of me, I felt like throwing up. We asked if I could bring my food somewhere else to eat it, but no luck, so I missed out on that dinner :-(. I went straight to our room to change out of my dress and heels and into jeans and comfy shoes... all I wanted to do was go get fresh air and walk around on the deck. After Rich ate his dinner he came and found me, and since The Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe was playing on the big screen up on the deck, we found some blankets and sat outside in the fresh air to watch. When the movie was over, we decided going to sleep was probably the best thing for me... so here I am about to go to bed, feeling icky, with my sea sickness bracelets on (which actually helped a lot for the first 12 hours of wearing them or so!) Oh, and eating Gardettos since I hadn't eaten any dinner. They are my ultimate favorite snack! Now that I looked back at these pictures... I see I started wearing those bracelets before even the cocktail party, so sometime between laying out on the deck, and going to the cocktail party is when I started to feel a bit sea sick.

Randy got sick once on Lobster night too! I've never been sea sick - so I can't relate! Someday we'll just have to fly to St. Thomas for a week ok? We also need to take you back out on the boat on a beautiful, smooth, warm and sunny day............maybe August will be like that?!?!?!
