Trees planted!!

I can hardly believe it myself, but we got the top soil down and trees planted around the flag pole! It is our first bit of "real" landscaping! Real as in, I'd feel comfortable in Lynden with this! I don't care how many times Rich reminds me that we live in Everson, that definition of "real" is still my standard!!! The grass could definitely use some help around it... but we still have a "field grass" lawn anyway, so it'll grow back in time. Now I just need a few stepping stones, and I'll feel it's complete for now! My plan is to add plants to it each year. To me, it's more fun to watch things progress, than to throw everything in at once and be done. Crazy maybe, but it's just how I am!
The path with no grass is where we ran the power.(Also notice our field is all 'tilled up for brussel sprouts in the fall)

This is a 'blue ice cypress' that I can't wait to watch grow!
And this is a 'smoke tree' or as Rich likes to call it, 'smoke free tree' I'm also planning on adding one of those narrow weeping cedar trees next to the smoke tree. My mom had some starts, so I'm hoping to keep them alive! I would go buy one, but I want it to be smaller than the cypress.

looks great. mom has lots of low and fast growing ground cover starts, too. would look GREAT here and there on the mound. and stepping stones along the path will look SO great. I love it. Everson or Lynden--it's YOUR place and looks great!
