Certified!

On Saturday I completed the final step needed to become a "certified" biblical financial counselor! It was a full day class filled with mostly review of the 10 week course I had previously taken. The class was great, I feel so much more confident now in going out and knowing where to start with people! It was also great to hear some of the other people in the class talk about things their churches are doing. One of the churches requires every premarital couple to complete a 10 week study of God's financial principles. I thought that was pretty smart considering money is the leading cause of divorce in America (I'm pretty sure, don't quote me on that, if it's not the lead cause, it's in the top 3) I am so excited to start using what God has given me a passion for to serve Him!! If you went to Lafayette you will recall something like "Bring on the counselees!" That is how I feel! Please pray for me that God will send people who are struggling my way, that I might be able to point them toward His principles and help them work toward financial freedom! I was also thinking (thinking big) that someday I might be able to use this blog to help people learn God's financial principles... maybe those who don't feel like they're bad enough off to need my one on one counseling, but aren't exactly living by His principles either! That'll be when I get beyond 5 or so followers :-) So, as an ending thought... for any of you who think the only thing God says about our money is that we should tithe 10% of it... I say to you this... did you know that money/finances/assets are mentioned in the bible over 2,300 times??? Hmm... sounds like He actually might care a lot about how you use it...
