Southern Birthday Party

I'm kind of behind on my blogging so I'm going to make an attempt to catch up! A couple weeks ago Rich and I threw a little birthday party for a friend of ours. He's from Florida so we all thought it'd be nice to let him enjoy some of the good southern food that he's undoubtedly been missing!

Here is Amy and Kim perfecting our recipe for fried pickes! This has always been a favorite of Kim's, and I jumped on board as soon as she introduced me to them at Gus's in Memphis. We've always wanted to try and make our own and we finally got our chance! The first few we did were terrible, but once we had it figured out... they didn't last long on the plate!

Mmmmm... and all the yummy food....

we had jumbalaya soup, BBQ pulled pork sandwiches with cole slaw, fried chicken, BBQ baked beans, corn bread and fried pickles! I honestly would eat that for dinner every night if it were an option.
