Flowers Watered???

Well, here we are, a week of no cable under our belts... and I still haven't had the meltdown I've been expecting! There are so many little random things around the house to do, I feel like I wouldn't have time to watch it if we did have it! Here's the catch... I had just as many things to do when we had cable, I just chose to watch tv instead of doing them. Here are some of the things I have done... that may have gotten skipped if we still had a working tv:
1. Watered the flowers! This is something I NEVER used to do! Our yard was the ultimate battle of Survival of the Fittest. If the flowers that were planted couldn't make it through the summer without being watered... well, they are no longer in my yard! So far we have lost 1 lilac tree and 2 prim roses to this disastrous way of life!
2. Weeded my garden! Multiple times! I typically use the excuse, "I can't weed it because I don't know well enough what the actual plants look like... I'd hate to 'weed' my vegetables". Then when the vegetables were grown enough, I'd finally weed, but there would be so many, at such large sizes, I'd get annoyed with the hard work... and never keep up with the weeds. This year I still use the same excuse, no, scratch that, the same reason, but I have weeded between the rows where I know the seeds were planted. I've also pulled out the stuff that I know without a doubt are weeds!
3. Kept the remaining Begonia Baskets looking good! This requires lots of picking off old blooms and today I have plans to give them some yummy miracle grow. Which will be a first for me!
4. Taken 2 naps out in the sun. (Not on the same day) I'm am getting quite the spring tan after my 2 laying out sessions this very sunny weekend! Ok, quite the tan for me is not that tan... but I'm still excited about it!
5. Went garage saling on Saturday! Got lots of good stuff... Outdoor flower pots for my new patio (pictures still to come!) and a little nightstand/table for the downstairs bathroom (pictures to come of these goodies too if you're lucky!)
6. Bought flowers for those new flower pots!
7. Other misc. outdoor work that is way too boring to post about, and not noticable unless you saw me actually doing the work, but very important none the less!
I may have gotten even more done... but we spent Saturday and Sunday out on Eliza Island where one of our friends has a cabin. We love getting the invite to go there! It's such a quiet little island where you feel like you're on vacation, but in a feel like you're comfortable at home kind of way. Unfortanately I didn't take any pictures of the trip... but if I had... you would have seen us roasting hot dogs on the campfire for dinner, lots of fetch with the dogs (not ours of course!) hanging out with friends of friends at a cabin down the 'little dirt road', laying around in the hammic, a game of cribbage, a nice walk on the beach when the tide was out, and coming back to the harbor right as the top dogs were starting the kayaking stretch of the Ski to Sea. We had a great time! Thanks Ben for inviting us!!

Did you see Randy coming in ? :-) Way to get stuff done - doesn't it feel good? Just think of watering plants as practice for having children - you do have to feed those for them to survive :-) !!!!!!
