I'm usually a fan of soaking up lots and lots of R&R on my weekends! This weekend was NOT one of those kinds of weekends, even though I took a long one!
Thursday evening I met up with my sister and brother in law, and we headed to Evergreen Gardens to start setting up for their reception. They had lots of family lined up to help Thursday night so we were able to get all the food/drinks unloaded and all the tables/chairs set up. My other sister, Tami, and I pride ourselves in making things look as perfect as possible, and I must say we were pretty happy with how we set up the tables... whether other people were annoyed with us or not!! Thursday evening I stayed at Matt and Mandi's house so Mandi and I could get up and get ready together in the morning. Matt and Mandi, this serves as your reminder to take the grandfather clock out of your spare bedroom!
Friday morning Mandi and I headed over to our mom's because our cousins were there with their kids, including Ellie, who Rich and I were supposed to meet when we were down in Olympia last month, but who chose not to come while we were there! If you click on her name, you can read the story of her birth, which is a pretty good one! After some baby time, we headed to NWHD for Melissa to do our hair. It looked amazing, of course, she always does such a good job! Then we headed back to Evergreen Gardens to start putting out decorations and taking care of food. This is where things got a bit frantic as there were only about 4 of us trying to get all the food prepared and decorations out on the table. Amazingly, it was done in time for us to be in some pictures! The reception went great! I love catching up with the cousins that I rarely see (which I totally didn't get to do at my own reception!). Tami and I gave an outstanding speech! At least we think so anyway! There is a video of it floating around... in Montana right now! Josh and Dena took the video, but now it is with them on their vacation in Montana for 2 weeks! Hopefully I'll be able to post it when they return, trust me, you'll all want us to give speeches at your weddings :-)!
Saturday Rich let me sleep in (THANK YOU HONEY!) but then we were up and off again this time to the TenKley family reunion. I try to meet someone new there every year, but I didn't do so hot this year. We weren't there that long, but long enough to eat, socialize with some family, and soak up a little sun, then we went home to work on chores, chores, and more chores! We went to church Saturday evening, which for those of you who don't go to our church, it was about why our Pastor is switching to the English Standard Version bible. Let me know if you want details... I'll fill you in! Saturday night we headed to Dillon and Katie Burke's to watch some Sumas fireworks (which seemed to start way later this year, maybe I was just still tired!) Then off to bed!
Sunday would have been my rest day... but I was woken up to breakfast in bed, don't worry, I'm not complaining about that! I think it was an attempt to sugar me up for what he had planned for our day. Rich so badly wanted to go down to the river behind his parents house and set it up for camping. Because he's so excited about it, and, well, I want to camp there too, I went along to help! Kari and Tyson were down there with us and we have the tent spot all cleared out and ready along with our "kitchen area" and fire pit area. Now we just need a free weekend to spend down there!
How about you? Did you get any rest this weekend???

Sounds like a fun weekend. No wonder you looked tired at church! And yes - the fireworks seemed to start wayyyy later than usual!!!
We are hoping to post the video and pictures this week, before we head to N. Dakota! We just downloaded everything off the camera to make room for all the fun we're having and about to have! :)
Thanks for the fancy link to Ellie's story!!! I even re-read it...it seems like forever ago but it was only a month ago! crazy.
xoxo
