slacker

I know, I know! I am slacking terribly on blogging! Here's my issue... I didn't take any pictures this Christmas!!! I'm working on collecting from those who did, so I can post some of our Christmas fun for you to see, but until then, all you get are my stories. So here's Rich and I's Christmas in a nutshell....
Because of all the snow, our Christmas Eve church service was canceled :-(. This service is my very favorite service of the whole year, so you can believe I was quite saddened by the sitaution. When you love the snow as much as I do, you can't really be mad at it for ruining Christmas Eve, so instead I chose to be mad at all the people who don't have wonderful husbands, like mine, with 4 wheele drive, who would have gotten them there! I'm still bitter, but getting over it :-) Anyway, with no Christmas Eve service to go to, we went straight over to Rich's Grandma and Matt's house for potato soup and taco dip casserole (tradition). We ate and then played a great round of Apples to Apples, opened some gifts and headed home to bed. At 6am Christmas morning, that's right, you don't have to correct me on the time, 6AM we headed to Rich's parents house to open gifts (tradition). Everyone got great stuff this year! Then we went home to freshen up quick (since you have to show up in your PJ's to open gifts (tradition) and headed to Rich's Grandpa and Grandma Tenkley's for breakfast and the Christmas story (tradition). Is anyone seeing a theme here?? This is where tradition goes out the door! My family Christmas was not until Friday, so we had Christmas day to do whatever, and we chose to take advantage and go sledding!! Here's a pic that I stole from Kari's myspace page.

The snow was soo deep! The jeep kept getting stuck and when it wasn't stuck, the tubes would get stuck half sideways in the tire tracks, which made for an "advanced" kind of ride. We had so much fun though! Hopefully I can gather more pictures so you can see what I'm talking about! After sledding we headed back to Rich's parents to play my new game, Settlers of Catan! What a great game! Way better than Monopoly or Risk (Rich and I's usuals). If anyone wants to come over for a game of Settlers, you just let us know! Friday Rich and I decided to check out "The New Black Friday" which was not NEARLY as good as the original Black Friday. The sales were weak and the stores really weren't busy at all. We got the things we NEEDED and then headed to my sister's house for Christmas with my family. That was also a great night! The siblings decided not to exchange gifts (because we're all going on a cruise in March) so we played a few games instead. Great food, good games, and socializing with family turned out to be a perfect Christmas! So there's our Christmas in a nutshell... if I come across anymore pictures, I promise I'll post them!
