We're home and happy to be!! We ended up staying in the hospital until Friday morning, mostly because I wasn't very confident in my nursing abilities and any advice the nurses had for me, I wanted to have (turns out I still feel the same way :). Both Ridley's doctor and my doctor had us ok'd for discharge by 8:30am, but as we're learning, life with a baby means we didn't get out of there until 10:30am. It was/is SO nice to be home!! Rich and I are both extremely happy to sleep in our own bed and not be woken up by all the extra noises in the hospital (being woken up by a baby is enough for us!). Ridley was a fantastic baby the two nights we spend in the hospital. She slept in her bassinet all night except when I woke her up to feed her, and did the same in her crib the first night she was home. Her first couple days of life she was VERY alert during the day, that was something everyone commented on. It was a joy to us to be able to look into her beautiful eyes and talk with her, feeling like she was listening instead of talking to a sleeping baby. Yesterday she slept most of the day, and then proved that she is a normal baby by deciding she would be alert for me in the middle of the night. It's crazy to me that I'm running on about 4 hours of sleep, but haven't felt tired enough to take a nap yet. Rich on the other hand (who, have I mentioned has been amazing?? He is such a huge help, I can't even imagine doing this without him!!) got probably 6 hours of sleep and has already snuck in a cuddling nap with Ridley this morning! Oh, the only other thing worthy of noting is that Ridley apparently wanted to try on as many of her clothes as she could last night, having blown out her diaper 3 of the 3 times I went in to feed her.
I know there are lots of pictures on facebook, but for you all, my special blog readers, I'm offering some not seen on facebook! Enjoy!
8am Wednesday morning, enjoying some breakfast - still in denial about delivering a baby soon :)
