Today Ridley and I didn't have anywhere we needed to be, and no scheduled visitors, and man was I looking forward to it! It hasn't necessarily been more restful than any other day, but it's been so nice to be home and start establishing a routine with Ridley. I think most of you know, I'm loosely following the Baby Wise book with her. I say loosely because I realized when I tried to 'tightly' follow it, it stressed me out to the point that I wasn't enjoying motherhood! We've stuck to the 2-1/2 to 3 hour feeding schedule since she was born, which 90% of the time means me waking her up at the 3 hour mark and forcing her to eat again. I'm starting to think she'd sleep all day if she could, and night?!?! The first week I woke her every 3 hours to feed at night, and this week I've been waking her every 4, which means I've been getting 3 hour stretches of sleep at night! She will get weighed again on Wednesday, and assuming she is back up to her birth weight, we will attempt 5 hours at night in a couple days!
Rich is busy busy busy with work, putting in 10 hour days Monday through Friday and 8 on Saturday. I've gotten many, 'oh awesome, lots of overtime!' comments, to which I think... I'd take the time together as a family any day over the overtime! We (ok probably mostly me) miss him like crazy when he's gone during the day! I can't imagine how hard it is for him to be away from his brand new baby girl that much, I respect him even more for working so hard at his job
to provide for his family.
As for me, if we're being honest, I'm on somewhat of a roller coaster. I am naturally somewhat emotional, and when you add hormones to the mix, along with a lack of sleep, you get some teary days. Emotions aside though, I'm feeling great! My milk is in and I'm past the engorged stage,
stitches are healed, and the overwhelming love I feel for my daughter and her daddy could get me through any day!
Here are some more pictures for you to enjoy...
She makes LOTS of funny faces... this is a common one
This is Ridley and her cousin Brodee, who is 20 days older than she is

Love the pictures. You are doing GREAT! Keep at it, the schedule works every time. Can't wait to see you both Wednesday morning- and bringing dinner later!
She is so cute and tiny! :-)
Good job, Ang! I promise if you stick to the routine even loosely like you are, you both will benefit from it! Babies need routine! Glad you're feeling better and getting your much needed rest!
