That's right, this year we had the 2nd Annual Oktoberfest Square Ball Tournament! Here's the thing... make no plans for a 3rd since both the 1st and 2nd were completely spontaneous. I'm not sure if it's because we live near the Deming Logging Grounds, or because we got married in October, but every year people invite us to Oktoberfest at the Deming Logging Grounds. The first year, we made the mistake of driving there and ALMOST paying to go in!! The music from the sidewalk should have been enough to turn us around, but we walked all the way in to the ticket table, only to be disturbed by people no younger than 60, dressed in some crazy outfits, frolicking around to some music that would have driven me nuts after 37 seconds. No offense! Seriously, if you do enjoy that stuff, I bet you'd have a really good time there! So upon being invited again this year, we were quick to decline, and offered our house up for hanging out if they decided it wasn't their style either. No surprise to us, they ended up at our house :-). And what better thing to do at our house than have a square ball tournament?? For those of you unaware, yes, we have a square ball "court" painted in our shop. We're always amazed at how much people miss the good ol' days of playing square ball. Oh, and always get a laugh about the arguements that transpire over whether your elementary school refered to it as square ball, or four square. I say, since it's our house, whether you called it four square or not, it's Square Ball! Enjoy some pics of the wild night of square ball at our house :-)

This is a pretty great shot of Rich's cherry bomb if you ask me!

Thankfully, we only had one bloodied up face from an over aggressive dive for the ball :-) And from what I've heard there is a definite scar! Getting a scar on your face from square ball has some serious bragging rights!

I concur - it's square ball - that's what we called it when I was growing up in the dark ages!!
