A Quick Overview:
House of Cards documents the mix of arrogance, greed, recklessness, and pettiness that took down the 86 year old brokerage house, Bear Stearns, and then the entire economy.
My Thoughts:
My thoughts are... I was expecting something different. I was expecting more on the entire economy, and less on Bearn Stearns. BUT, that is completely my fault, had I read a few of the reviews, I would have known that going into it. With that being said, it was actually a pretty good book. The first half was pretty awesome, up until I got bored reading about Bear Stearns. It was interesting reading about the different CEO's and their lavish lifestyles, (like taking a $10k, 17 minute helicopter ride to the golf course every Thursday afternoon) and how they got where they did, considering many of them didn't even finish college. Although it was a descent read, I wouldn't reccomend this book unless you are super into the economy and maybe know a thing or two about stocks, bonds, and all that crazy stuff.
