Book Review: Mere Christianity

Title: Mere Christianity
Author: C.S. Lewis
Rating: ***.5 (3.5 stars)

A Quick Overview (from Amazon):
Mere Christianity is C. S. Lewis's forceful and accessible doctrine of Christian belief. First heard as informal radio broadcasts and then published as three separate books -- The Case for Christianity, Christian Behavior, and Beyond Personality -- Mere Christianity brings together what Lewis sees as the fundamental truths of the religion. Rejecting the boundaries that divide Christianity's many denominations, C. S. Lewis finds a common ground on which all those who have Christian faith can stand together, proving that "at the centre of each there is something, or a Someone, who against all divergences of belief, all differences of temperament, all memories of mutual persecution, speaks with the same voice."

My Thoughts:
I really wanted to read a book on basic theology, just to see if it was something that would suck me in. After reading Mere Christianity, I feel like I need to find another book on theology to see if it will suck me in :-). It wasn't the easiest book to read, mainly because it was broadcast in 1946 and they definitely talked different back then! Halfway through the book I remember thinking, this just really isn't that great of a book, but then when I was finished with it, I had a greater appreciation. C.S. Lewis does an AMAZING job of drawing a real life picture for something that may be difficult to understand. I especially loved the chapters on Forgiveness and Pride. The book really gave me some stuff to think about, and to work on!
